2019 Lonesome Rock
High in the windswept Coast Range, one lone, basalt boulder sits like an ancient and solitary guardian to Lonesome Rock Vineyard. At 700ft above sea level, the site paradoxically combines cool temperatures with an unusual proliferation of “heat-trapping” chunks of stone mixed throughout the soil; a perfect setting for the early ripening 667 and 777 clones. The ample hang time they are given here gives exotically spiced, vibrant, and pure-fruited Pinot Noir.
The 2019 Lonesome Rock is a stunner, simultaneously sensual and floral, swirling with dark raspberries and cherries, wet earth, and dried herbs. The rich palate is dense and concentrated but manages to carry both red and black fruit with a graceful sense of elegance and freshness. This duet of beautiful fruit and intense minerality is ever so attractive out of the bottle but will undoubtedly continue to grow in the cellar.

Aromas of fresh red cherries, strawberries, grated nutmeg and violets. Medium-bodied with bright and zesty acidity. Velvety tannins. Fresh and crisp with a solid core of red fruit. Orange peel and fresh cream at the finish. Delightful. Best after 2024.
